Description
This invention describes a freeze desalination system using continuous flows to enhance drinking water productivity. The system includes a seawater intake unit, a multi-media filter, a precision filter, and a seawater freezing unit. This design makes controlling seawater flow rate (or shear rate) easy, helping maximize ice growth rate while meeting drinking water standards for ion rejection. Additionally, as ice forms on the internal surfaces of the channels in the freezing unit, productivity can be significantly increased by increasing the channel diameter.
